Ephesians 3:19 “May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.”

Devotional:

We all long to be loved—deeply, unconditionally, without fear of rejection. Yet even the best human relationships leave us wanting. There’s always some misunderstanding, some distance, some imperfection.

But Paul prays something radical here: not that we’d just know about Christ’s love, but that we would experience it. This isn’t theoretical. It’s deeply personal. Christ’s love is not a concept to grasp with the mind alone—it’s a truth that must be received with open hands, and lived out in relationship.

And yet, Paul also says this love is “too great to understand fully.” That’s the mystery of it. We’ll never completely figure it out—but we can still be transformed by it.

When we receive this overwhelming, incomprehensible love, we become complete. Not because we’ve earned it, not because life is perfect, but because God’s love fills every crack in our soul. His love brings fullness! A life grounded in joy, strength, and the quiet confidence that we are truly seen, known, and loved.

Personal Reflection:

  • When have I personally felt God’s love in my life?
  • We are “loved beyond measure” by God. What would it mean for me to surrender control and receive His love?
  • In what ways am I seeking to be “complete” through things other than Christ (e.g., success, relationships, performance)?
  • Am I trying to “understand” before I “receive”? What would it look like to just accept His love?

Prayer:

Father God,

Thank you for your unmeasurable love.

I confess I’ve looked to other things for fulfillment. Teach me that only Your love can make me whole. Help me experience it more deeply and give me peace in not having all the answers. Empower me to live with boldness and love. Though I don’t always understand Your love, I want to experience it.

I open my heart to You today. fill the empty places, and silence the lies that tell me I’m not enough. Let Your love be my anchor, my identity, and my strength. Make me complete in You.

In Jesus mighty name,

Amen.
