John 14:6 “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”
Devotional:
Jesus speaks these words on the eve of His crucifixion, in a moment of intimate teaching and comfort to His disciples. The road ahead was uncertain for them — filled with fear, loss, and confusion. Yet Jesus points them (and us) not to a map, a philosophy, or a set of religious rules, but to Himself.
He doesn’t just show the way — He is the way. He doesn’t just speak truth — He is the truth. He doesn’t just offer life — He is the life.
In a world full of competing “truths” and directions, Jesus reminds us that He alone is the source and destination of everything we truly need. His path may not always be easy, but it is sure. His truth may confront us, but it also heals and frees. His life is not just for the afterlife — it fills our present with meaning, peace, and purpose.
When we follow Jesus, we’re not just heading toward God — we’re walking with Him.
Personal Reflection:
- What “ways” or paths have I been tempted to follow that don’t lead me closer to God?
- In what area of my life do I struggle to trust Jesus as truth?
- Am I living as if Jesus is truly my life, or am I trying to find life elsewhere (success, relationships, approval, etc.)?
- Do I treat Jesus as exclusive and essential, or just as one part of my spiritual life?
Prayer:
Father God,
Thank you for being all that I need. If I have nothing else but have You I have everything.
Jesus, You are the way, the truth, and the life. Today, I want to explore what that really means for me. Help me reflect on the areas where I’m still trying to go my own way, where I resist Your truth, or where I look for life in things that cannot satisfy. Show me what it looks like to truly walk with You, trust You fully, and live in Your presence every day.
Teach me to trust Your path, to rest in Your truth, and to live in the abundance of Your life.
In Jesus name I pray,
Amen
